Martin Leonard’s Thames Path Challenge

Martin Leonard, one of our fellowship, is doing a sponsored 100km walk along the Thames Path in the space of 36 hours on 7th and 8th of September. If you would like to sponsor him please use this link

Martin is generously sharing the sponsorship equally between three charities – his scout group, a charity called Survivors UK which supports men who have suffered abuse and Christ Church.

In his own words Martin tells us:

I have been a Scout leader for 40 years and I have been a treasurer of my local church for 13 years. I wanted to challenge myself now that I am in my 60s but raising money at the same time to help charities close to my heart. I am donating money to three groups, so that I can give something back to others.

I am donating to Christ Church (United Reformed) Petts Wood charity to raise money to improve our audio-visual equipment to enhance our worship.

I am donating to 8th Orpington (St John’s) Scout Group to assisting replacing much needed camping equipment.

I am donating to SurviorsUK that supports men that have been sexually abused or raped at some point in their lives. As I know men that have been abused as children that have found this charity’s support beneficial to get them to come to terms with their abuse and that it was not their fault.
